Meet Shaun
I, Shaun Griffith, am currently running for Pennsylvania’s 3rd Congressional District to represent both the people of the city that I love, Philadelphia, and the people of the country that I love, the United States of America. I moved to Philadelphia from Western Pennsylvania in 2009, and I lived roughly eight years in the Cobbs Creek area of West Philly. Since July 2017, I have lived in the Tasker Street Homes development near Grays Ferry area of South Philly.
As an attorney, I have been admitted to practice law in Pennsylvania since 2003, and I have been admitted to the United States Tax Court since 2005. I worked as a public service employee for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for nearly fifteen of the past twenty years; contemporaneously, I have advised individuals and small businesses as the operations manager of USA Tax Service, a boutique tax and accounting firm on Ridge Avenue in Roxborough. Having lived in both West Philly and South Philly and having built a business in Roxborough, I have met many of the residents of several neighborhoods in Pennsylvania’s 3rd Congressional District and have come to cherish Philadelphians.
The City of Brotherly Love has not only honored me with a successful business but more importantly, this great city has given me the most important relationship of my life. On South Broad Street, right in center of the South Philly corridor of Pennsylvania’s 3rd Congressional District, I met my wife and partner Rachel Tu, a long-time resident of South Philadelphia who has resided on both sides of Broad Street. For more than eight years, I have been happily married to Rachel, a woman who is not only brilliant and witty but is also a minority, an immigrant and a naturalized citizen.
I feel called to run for public office. I have benefited from many government services from attending public primary and secondary education to receiving Pell Grants to help fund my college education. I have worked in public service for most of my adult life having served both the federal government and the state government. I have enjoyed living in three states and visiting 48 states (Alaska and Vermont both remain on the bucket list). I love America and the ideals Americans have espoused for 250 years – liberty, equality and republican governance based on the rule of law, but for the past decade, I have become increasing concerned by the shift toward authoritarian governance, disparagement of immigrants and minorities and flagrant environmental degradation. I sympathize with Americans wrestling with financial uncertainty as labor has been devalued and wealth has trickled up to a few de facto oligarchs.
I readily join the fight to reward hard-working Americans with livable wages, secure retirements and environmental safety. I respectfully and humbly ask the residents of Philadelphia to vote for me in the May 2026 primary to ensure that the American dream remains tenable for hardworking Americans and to ensure that America remains a place where immigrants are welcome, diversity is celebrated, individuality is dignified, and opportunity is plentiful.
